Die Sonntags-Vesper blickt traditionell auf eine vergangene Woche zurück und kräftigt die Seele für eine neue. Die Jazz-Vesper im Cafe Museum Passau findet nur einmal zum Ende des Monats statt, aber sie ist umso gewaltiger und will mit ihrer gebündelten Kraft des Jazz helfen, Vergangenes zu bewältigen und Neues zu ermöglichen.

Die Jazz-Vespern werden arrangiert von Chanda Rule. Sie ist nicht nur eine der großen Stimmen des aktuellen Jazz. Im Gospel verwurzelt, den Soul in der Seele, wurde sie von Kirk Lightsey als die wunderbarste Stimme genannt, die er in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten gehört hat. Nur wenige wissen, dass Chanda Rule ursprünglich auch am Theologischen Seminar in New York City studierte und auch abgeschlossen hat. Als überkonfessionelle Seelsorgerin und Pastorin ist sie aktiv. Wer hätte mehr Profil für unsere Jazz-Vesper?

Als Duo-Partner der JazzVesper Volume II hat sich Chanda Rule den renommierten Pianisten und Komponisten Hubert Gredler auf die Bühne geholt. Gredlers ausdrucksstarkes Schaffen und auch sein breitgefächertes musikalisches Arbeitsfeld werden Chanda Rules Stimme den instrumentellen Background geben, den sie verdient hat. Die beiden kennen sich schon viele Jahre – eine wichtige Voraussetzung, wenn es darum geht, alle Aspekte der Vesper zu vernetzen und kreativ auf die Bühne zu bringen: Jazz, der Freude macht, der an die Welt der Spirituals, Sakraler Musik, an Kontemplation und Ritual anknüpft.


Traditionally, the Sunday Vesper recaps the week passed and strengthens the soul for the new one. At Café Museum, the Jazz Vesper takes place once at the end of every month. With the power of jazz, it masters the past and create space for the new. Jazz Vespers @ Cafe Museum is curated by Chanda Rule, one of the great voices of current Jazz, who is also rooted in Gospel. Kirk Lightsey called hers the most wonderful voice he has heard in the last decades.

Also a published writer, interfaith minister and storyteller, Chanda loves to use music for community building and communal healing.

For her second evening, she has invited pianist and composer Hubert Gredler, known for his expressive compositions and massive musical range, for a duo performance.
